PeerClip - Social Bookmarking for Doctors

I got an email from Scott McQuigg, CEO of PeerClip today morning that they are going to launch a social bookmarking tool exclusively for Doctors at the Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco (9/20). Scott McQuigg is a respected healthcare information industry veteran.
From PeerClip website
A simple online tool that enables physicians to organize, share, discuss and discover relevant medical information.
Using PeerClip’s “research assistant” tool that integrates easily into any Web browser, physicians can “bookmark” any type content, including journal articles, blogs, podcasts and videos. Bookmarks are conveniently stored online for easy access in a central location, creating a personal homepage of relevant medical information. Physicians also can organize, keyword tag, rate and share bookmarks. The PeerClip “research assistant” also provides physicians with at-a-glance information on articles that their peers have tagged and rated as useful. The combined ratings and tagging of all physicians helps the PeerClip member quickly find the information he or she is looking for. Additionally, the PeerClip “research assistant” also recommends other relevant information based on the member’s profile and interests. The simple act of member participation guides the recommendations as well as the member’s discovery while browsing.
Physicians also can invite peers to join the network as well as create personal online peer networks in order to track future bookmarks and comments by peers or Key Opinion Leaders across the PeerClip community.
I will drop more comments as and when I receive the beta invitation.

Yahoo Mash

Yahoo Mash is a new approach to social networking that brings your friends together and keeps things interesting. If at all Yahoo can clone some of the features of Myspace, Facebook and Orkut, it can easily position itself in the Top 5 social networking websites in the Internet World.
Yahoo Mash comes with lot of modules like Flickr RSS, Ego Boost, Common Friends, MyMoshLog2, Blog Module (RSS 2.0), Asteroids, Astrology, PimpMyPet, Hover, Kaleidescope, Guestbook, and My Stuff to play with. People can also edit each others page.
Yahoo Mash is invite-only right now. Please drop your email in the comments section to get an invite.
The last two Yahoo application which impressed me are Yahoo Pipes and Yahoo Mash. Keep it up Yahoo!

These days, an estimated 50% of marriages end in divorce. So what happens after the divorce? What do you do with the ring? When you turn around and sell a ring, you are taking a big loss. The price you will get for the ring will be sharply discounted from what was originally paid. In most cases, you will only get 25-35% of the purchase price and that´s if you are lucky.A great idea to do business!
I Do...Now I Don't can help solve the "what do I do with the ring?" scenario. We will help you sell your ring at the price that it deserves!!
Posting your ring is FREE of charge.

Scribd - Put your Documents Online
Scribd lets you publish and discover documents online. It is like a big online library where anyone can upload. Scribd makes use of a custom Flash document viewer that lets you display documents right in your Web browser. There are all sorts of other features that make it easy and fun to publish, convert, embed, analyze, and read documents.
Part of the idea behind Scribd is that everyone has a lot of documents sitting around on their computers that only they can read. Scribd unlocks this information by putting it on the web.
Using Scribd, I embedded the above document 100 Linux Tips & Tricks into my blog post.

Doctor World
Its like a digg for Doctors. DoctorWorld.NET is a medical media democracy. It is all about user powered content. Everything is submitted and voted on by the DoctorWorld.NET community. It's a place where people submit, share, vote and promote medical stories and websites.
DoctorWorld.NET is a site where you can share whatever you find interesting on the web with people who value your opinion (whether you know who they are or not), and where you can also find what's interesting from people whose opinion are important to you - whether they know who you are or not.
Everything on DoctorWorld.NET is submitted by DoctorWorld.NET users, and after they submit a story, website, etc. other people will read it and give it a thumb up or down. If that story receives enough positive votes, it is promoted to the front page.

Update on 06 June 2007
David Rothman writes on his blog, "Dr. Karuturi also mentions Doctor .VG and the Student Doctor Network. Respectfully, I cannot agree with with Dr. Karuturi that these are social networks in the way that (for example) MySpace or Facebook are social networks. Online Bulletin boards and forums have been around for a long time, and I think what separates online “social networks” from online forums and bulletin boards is that they include tools by which members manage relationships within the network- not just communications."
I do agree with David Rothman that Forums like www.doctor.vg and forums.studentdoctor.net are not social networks in pure terms. When you consider the broad idea of Social Networking, you can include any tools which help us to network socially. I do consider forums as the ancient social networks of Internet as they allowed us to meet new people and interact with them. Now a days Forums are giving us a profile page where you can add your pics, join groups and also create a blog. So you can observe that new forum 2.0 concept is more inclined towards a social networking approach.
